Fearing IS*IS attacks | Iranian-backed militiamen and regime forces on alert in Deir Ezzor countryside

Deir Ezzor province: SOHR activists have reported that regime forces and Iranian-backed militiamen have mobilised and conducted joint patrols.

A convoy of 15 pickup vehicles carrying fighters from Al-Tali ‘a camp has headed to villages in the western countryside all the way to Al-Tabani town in Deir Ezzor countryside, fearing attacks by ISIS after ISIS members on cars came to pledge allegiance to the new “caliph.”

On November 23, Regime forces and Iranian militias present at the outskirts of the 55 kilometre de-confliction zone, where Al-Tanf base is located, conducted night joint exercises with heavy weapons to raise the fighting readability of their members, coinciding with the explosions heard in Al-Omar oil field, which is the largest “International Coalition” base in Syria.

“International Coalition” forces took control over Al-Tanf base in the border junction between Iraq, Syria and Jordan in March 2016.
