While seeking safe haven | Syrian civilian shot dead by Turkish Jandarma in Ras Al-Ain

Al-Hasakah province: SOHR activists have reported that a civilian from Zaghira Jazira town in western Deir Ezzor countryside was shot dead by Turksih Jandarma, while trying to sneak into Turkish territory via smugglers of “Ahrar Al-Sharqiyah” faction in Ras Al-Ain area northern of Al-Hasakah within “Peace Spring” area.

On December 2, Turkish border guards severely beat a Syrian man in Ras Al-Ain area in “Peace Spring” area which is under the control of Turkish forces and their proxy factions, while crossing the Syrian-Turkish border.

According to SOHR sources, the man is from Ras Al-Ain area, where he headed towards the Turkish-Syrian border, via roads used for “smuggling” in the eastern countryside of Ras Al-Ain, with the aim of migrating in search of a safe haven.

The Syrian man was arrested and severely tortured by “Turkish Jandarma, resulting in the smashing of his face and ribs. Then the man was thrown by Jandarma into Syrian territory.

Accordingly, the number of civilians who have been killed by Turkish Border Guards (Jandarma) in several areas near and on Syria-Turkey border since early 2022 has risen to 20, including three children and one woman, while 24 other civilians were injured including three children.
