Alarming rate of child abandonment | residents find Newborn baby’s body in Deir Ezzor

Deir Ezzor province: SOHR activists have reported that civilians found a newborn baby dumbed at a street in Zaiban town in eastern Deir Ezzor countryside withing SDF-held areas, where one of the families in the town adopted the baby.

This comes in light of the growing phenomenon of child abandonment across Syria due to illegal relationships and many other reasons.

According to SOHR statistics, this is the 35th case of abandoned new-born babies since early 2022 with 22 cases documented in regime-controlled areas and 13 documented in SDF-controlled areas.
