After arre*sting him | Security services demand ransoms to release truck driver in Homs

Air Force Intelligence arrested a truck driver at a mobile checkpoint and stole the truck’s load of heating logs, near Al-Taifor Military Airport southern of Palmyra city in eastern Homs countryside, while the truck was heading from Homs towards Al-Rukban camp within the 55 Kilometre de-confliction zone.

Members of the checkpoint demanded the driver’s family to pay ransoms for his release.

According to reliable SOHR sources, the merchant who bought the logs contacted with the family of the driver and informed them that the driver was arrested by regime forces, and a ransom was demanded for his release, where he was taken to an unknown destination.

Regime checkpoints impose royalties and huge amounts of money on transportation trucks heading to Al-Rukban camp at the junction between Syrian, Iraqi and Jordan borders. Moreover, the deteriorating living conditions in the camp pushes several families to head towards regime-held areas in Homs, without any guarantees for their safety from being arrested by security services.
