“I am a bachelor student, I have the right to speak” | Students and civilians protest in rural Al-Suwaidaa, opposing dilapidated economy

Al-Suwaidaa province: SOHR sources have reported that tens of residents staged a sit-in protest in Salkhad area in Al-Suwaidaa countryside, with the participation of students, condemning the deteriorating living conditions and dilapidated economy, amid appeals by the students to defend their right to attain education.

 

The students lifted placards with slogans written on them which read “we are the future’s flowers. We died before we grew up,” “we want a warm nation hugging us,” “sabotage is not of our traits,” “where is electricity? Where is water? Where is heating materials?” and “I am a bachelor student, I have the right to speak.”

 

During the protest, a female student in high school appealed to provide services required to secure their future, calling for their rights to attain education.

 

Yesterday, SOHR sources reported that the peaceful movement in Al-Suwaydaa called, through an announcement , for residents of Al-Suwaydaa city for sit-in in Al-Karama Square to demand their political, economic and social rights. The announcement read: “Syrians, we call you to participate in the silent sit-in on Monday 19-12-2022 from 12 pm to 1 pm in Al-Suwaydaa city “Al-Karama Square” in respect for the martyrs who gave their lives for their political, economic and social rights. The call is for all Syrians of all sects. Our concern is one and our fate is united and the Square fits for everyone. Long live Syria free.”
