“Do not deprive us our right to learn” | Students of Maarata protest against suspension of education in Aleppo

Aleppo province: Dozens of students in Maarata village in Al-Shuhabaa area in northern Aleppo countryside, protested to demand to lift the siege that was imposed by the regime’s 4th Division, and to put an end to the suspension of education.

This comes after the suspension of education for primary, preparatory and secondary stages in Al-Shuhabaa area in northern Aleppo countryside for more than two consecutive weeks, following the siege imposed on the area for over two months.

Students held banners that read: “I have the right to learn, do not deprive me of my rights .. With our education and our hearts we build the future .. Where are our rights.”

SOHR sources reported that tens of displaced people from Afrin staged a demonstration in front of a regime checkpoint in the northern countryside of Aleppo, condemning the strict siege imposed by the regime-backed 4th Division for over two consecutive months, amid calls for lifting the siege.

The demonstrators lifted placards with slogans written on them which read “Damascus besieges us and Turkey kills us” and “your siege on Al-Shahbaa and Sheikh Maqsoud is against the brotherhood of the peoples.”

Its worth noting that the regime-backed 4th Division continue their siege on Al-Shahbaa area, Al-Ashrafiyyah and Sheikh Maqsoud neighbourhoods for over two consecutive months, which further exacerbated the living and economic conditions in that region.
