After fining him 150,000,000 Syrian Liras | Regime forces release driver of nutrition near 55 kilomtre de-confliction zone

The forces of regime’s customs released a civilian and his truck, where he was detained in the middle of December, after he was fined 150,000,000 Syrian Liras which is equivalent to 21,000 USDs, while a part of the truck’s load and fuels that were on the way towards Al-Rukban camp in the 55 kilometre de-confliction zone were confiscated.

The regime checkpoints impose huge royalties on transportation vehicles heading to Al-Rukban camp at the junction of borders between Syria, Iraq and Jordan.

On December 14, a patrol of the 4th Division confiscated a large truck loaded with food coming from Homs towards the 55 kilometre de-confliction zone at the borders between Syria, Jordan and Iraq at Abo Rabah junction, where member of the patrol demanded huge ransoms to release the driver.

On December 13, Air Force Intelligence arrested a truck driver at a mobile checkpoint and stole the truck’s load of heating logs, near Al-Taifor Military Airport southern of Palmyra city in eastern Homs countryside, while the truck was heading from Homs towards Al-Rukban camp within the 55 Kilometre de-confliction zone.
Members of the checkpoint demanded the driver’s family to pay ransoms for his release.
According to reliable SOHR sources, the merchant who bought the logs contacted with the family of the driver and informed them that the driver was arrested by regime forces, and a ransom was demanded for his release, where he was taken to an unknown destination.
Regime checkpoints impose royalties and huge amounts of money on transportation trucks heading to Al-Rukban camp at the junction between Syrian, Iraqi and Jordan borders. Moreover, the deteriorating living conditions in the camp pushes several families to head towards regime-held areas in Homs, without any guarantees for their safety from being arrested by security services.
