Following violent attack | Security forces close streets and fortify security centres

Al-Raqqa province: The Internal Security Forces “Al-Asayesh” closed several roads in Al-Raqqa city with a security tension in the city, following the escalation of attacks by ISIS cells in Al-Raqqa recently, where Hisham Bin Abd Al-Malik St. was closed from Saif Al-Dawla St. to 400 metres in the area that holds a prison and a branch of the Internal Security.

Meanwhile, the Internal Security Forces fortified Al-Ahdas Prison near the former train station in the northern neighbourhoods of the city, closed a street southern to the National Hospital and reinforced the area that holds the administration of the Internal Security, Intelligence Prison and a checkpoint of the counter-terrorism forces in Al-Nor Street.

Moreover, the Internal Security Forces have closed the street of Jisr Al-Teshrin “Silos” in the vicinity of Al-Raqqa Central Prison, after a riot attempt by some ISIS members, causing security patrols to increase in the vicinity of the prison and closing the roads leading to the prison from the northern entrance of the city.

On December 26, Al-Raqqa witnessed the most violent attack since the incident of Guwairan Prison, committed by ISIS cells, where six members of SDF and the Internal Security Forces were killed and the Internal Committee imposed a curfew in the countryside, the city and the camps, before the imposition of a partial curfew on the following Friday after a campaign of arrests in different areas of the countryside and the city.
