Raid campaign | 8th Brigade arrests five people in eastern Daraa countryside

Daraa province: A local group of “8th Brigade” stormed several houses in Al-Mu’tayah town in the eastern countryside of Daraa, arresting three siblings and two of their sons after they surrounded the house, amid gunfire over the area.

This raid campaign aimed at lobbying and conducting a prisoner exchange, to release the prisoner of “8th Brigade” in Azaz in late July 2021. The arrestee was handed a suspended death sentence, after admitting his involvement in the torture of a young man.

According to SOHR sources, a family member died under torture by members of the 8th Brigade in 2021,

A member of the 8th Brigade involved in the killing of the young man then moved to the Euphrates Shield area, where family members of the former sharia official of Ahrar Al-Sham faction filed a lawsuit against him in Azaz city.

Then the killer was arrested, while the former Sharia official demanded payment of 45,000 USD to the family as a ransom.

This comes in light of the ongoing security chaos prevalent throughout the Syrian Arab Republic.
