Electricity, drinking water and services | Neighbourhoods holding commanders and members of Iranian militias witness privileges

Deir Ezzor province: Deir Ezzor is considered one of the areas in Syria where the militias affiliated with and loyal to Iran are deployed, in addition to the city of Al-Mayadeen in its countryside, where the Deir Ezzor is a shelter for members and commanders of militias, who own houses and areas within the city and live among the residents under the eyes of the regime forces that only protect headquarters and governmental institutions.

The areas specialized for members and commanders of the Iranian militias in Deir Ezzor are completely different from the rest of the city’s neighbourhoods, where uninterrupted electricity, fuel and drinking water are available within houses and headquarters of these militias, while people in other neighbourhoods lack such services.

SOHR camera roamed Al-Dahiya neighbourhood in Deir Ezzor and monitored the houses of modern construction that belong to commanders of the Iranian-backed “Luwaa Al-Quds”, in addition to the commadners of the “4th Division” led by “Maher al-Assad”, the brother of the head of the regime, and other Iranian-backed militias.

The photos show that the streets of the neighbourhood appear to be serviced and clean, unlike the rest of the areas.

Previously, SOHR activists pointed that the residents of Al-Mayadeen, which is the capital of the Iranian militias in Deir Ezzor, complain about the constant availability of electricity, drinking water and other services only within the military headquarters of the Iranian militias and the places where they live within the city, while residents are forced to buy water at high prices through tanks, amid neglect by the government of their situation and focusing attention only on the benefit of those militias.
