Violations in Afrin | “National Army” and Civil Police fell dozens of olive trees

Aleppo province: Members of the Civil Police and the “National Army” felled nearly 80 olive trees in Talalf and Kafrzait villages in Jinderes district and Qaibar village in Afrin countryside north western of Aleppo, to sell them as heating logs, where one ton is sold for 125 to 150 USDs.

On the same context, a member of “Al-Sultan Murad” faction sold a house in Afrin Al-Qadim neighbourhood for 1,200 USDs, where the house belongs to a civilian from Rajo district in Afrin countryside.

On January 4, a member of the “National Army” known as “Al-Dimashqy” told SOHR that he had to fell nearly 20 olive trees in Afrin and sold them as heating logs to support his family, under the pretext that his salary was reduced to 500 Turkish Liras per month.

Moreover, members of the “National Army” factions felled nearly 100 olive trees in the neighbourhoods and countryside of Afrin city to sell them as heating logs in the markets of Afrin and Idlib for nearly 100 to 135 USDs for each ton.

A member of “Al-Sultan Murad” faction sold a house in Afrin Al-Qadima neighbourhood for 900 USDs, where the house belongs to a civilian displaced from Afrin city. Moreover, “Ahrar Al-Sharqiyah” faction that controls Qasma, Qora, Jaklama, Rajo, Shadiya, Farfarka, Siyoya, Emara, Katkh and Astir villages, imposed royalties that included five bottles of olive oil on widows in the mentioned villages to allow them to have their possessions.
