Amid freezing temperature | Residents in Homs countryside wait in long lines for getting heating allowances and subsidies

Homs province: SOHR sources have reported seeing tens of the residents of Al-Rastan city and Al-Farhaniyah village in the northern countryside of Homs waiting in front of petrol stations for getting heating allowances and subsidies. Meanwhile, several residents from the city came to “Al-Maknanah” petrol station, after having received text messages from the “Takamol” institution, which is responsible for distributing allowances via smartcards, informing them that they were allowed to obtain 50 litres of diesel.

According to SOHR sources, the residents who have received text messages from “Takamol” are allowed to obtain 100 litres of diesel in two batches at state-subsidized prices, where they pay 700 SYP for a litre.

It is worth noting that most of the beneficiaries of the program of the subsidised heating allowances sell their allocations on black markets for over 9,000 SYP a litre.

According to local sources, the residents managed to take their allowances, after the owners of petrol stations deducted five litres from every smartcard in coordination with security members stationed in these stations, who received bribes from the owners of petrol stations.
