ranian-backed militias continue to attract Syrians in regime-held areas,” by exploiting the catastrophic living conditions throughout Syria, obscene high prices, scarce job opportunities and extreme difficulty securing a living.

The Afghan “Fatimiyoun” militia continues to attract Syrians in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, offering material temptations and other privileges in exchange for recruiting young men and men to join the Iranian-backed militias’ ranks.

According to SOHR sources, Fatimiyoun militia has recruited more than 3,100 since the surge in recruitment operations in February 2021 to the present day.

Recruitment is concentrated in Maskanah, Al-Safirah, Deir Hafer and other towns and villages east of Aleppo, which is carried out through godparents and offices offering money.

It is worth noting that in 2022, Iranian-backed militias brought over seven logistics and military reinforcements to their military base in Habboubah village, located between Al-Khafsah and Maskanah, east of Aleppo, located off the SDF-held areas on the other bank of the Euphrates river.

According to the sources, the reinforcements included Iranian-made weapons, ammunition, and short and medium-range missiles on board two trucks and four-wheel drive vehicles coming from areas held by Iranian-backed militia west of the Euphrates in Deir Ezzor province.
