Rampant security chaos | Man and wife shot de-ad in Deir Ezzor countryside

Deir Ezzor province: Two unidentified gunmen riding a motorcycle opened fire at a “Jeep” on the road in Ghranij town, east of Deir Ezzor, killing a man and his wife. The gunmen fled to an unknown destination.

It is worth noting that the man and his wife are from Al-Haddadiyah village of Al-Shaddadi in Al-Hasakah countryside.

This comes in light of the continuing insecurity and arms proliferation in the SDF-controlled areas.

On January 12, SOHR activists reported that Abu Hammam village in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor which is in SDF-controlled areas saw tension between two families of the Al-Shaitat tribe.

This comes amid fears of erupting family fighting over killing a 20-year-old husband of one family by his wife’s siblings from the other family in Turkey for beating the wife. The husband’s brothers-in-law beat him and hit him in the head, and killed him.
