First attack in five months | Unknown drones attack International Coalition base in Al-Tanaf area

SOHR sources have reported that Al-Tanaf base where International Coalition Forces are stationed in the 55 kilometre de-confliction zone near the Syria-Jordan-Iraq border triangle came under attack this morning by unknown drones believed to be affiliated to Iranian-backed militias. According to SOHR sources, the drones executed several airstrikes on the base, leaving several members of the “Free Syria Army” (former Maghawir Al-Thawra) injured, amid a state of high alert by Coalition Forces in the region.

It is worth noting that this is the first attack of its kind in the past five months and the first attack on Coalition bases in 2023.

In mid-August 2022, SOHR sources reported that areas controlled by International Coalition Forces and Jaysh Maghawir Al-Thawra came under drone attack. The drones missed their targets in Al-Tanaf base in the 55-kilometre zone at the Syria-Jordan-Iraq border triangle, according to the statement of the International Coalition and SOHR sources.
