Bread crisis | Many stone bread bakeries shut in Derbasiyah in northern Al-Hasakah countryside as diesel runs out

Al-Hasakah province: This morning, many stone bread bakeries in Derbasiyah city in the northern countryside of Al-Hasakah closed due to not receiving diesel allocations that must be provided by “Autonomous Administration.”

Due to the lack of Diesel, some owners of bread bakeries buy diesel at a double price of 1,200 SYP per litre. As the fuel crisis in Darbasiyah city continues to worsen, motorists also face difficulty in getting diesel.

A number of Derbasiayah city’s inhabitants rely on bread from stone bread bakeries, although the price of a loaf has risen to hit 1,000 Syrian pounds, due to the poor quality and lack of bread produced in automatic bakeries.

Today, SOHR camera captures a long line of cars parked in front of a petrol station in Darbasiyah city in Al-Hasakah countryside, waiting for diesel.

People in most areas controlled by Autonomous Administration suffer from a fuel crisis represented by high prices and the lack of fuel that run out of certain facilities, which has badly affected the lives of civilians.

On January 17, SOHR activists reported that the joint head of Deir Ezzor Civil Council was beaten inside the council by a protestor, who demanded their allocations of fuels and improvement of services, in the 7th kilometre northern to Deir Ezzor.
