Tightening siege | Only bakery in 55 kilometre de-confliction zone goes out of service for lack of flour

The only bakery in Al-Rukban camp “forgotten” in the 55 kilometre de-confliction zone at the Syrian-Iraqi-Jordanian borders went out of service due to lack of flour, with the ongoing siege by regime forces and their only militias.

This bakery is the only one providing services to displaced people in Al-Rukban camp, where it went out of service the last year for the same reasons.

This comes in light of the ongoing siege by regime forces on the 55 kilometre de-confliction zone, and the deterioration of humanitarian conditions suffered by residents in Al-Rukban camp.

On January 15, the three months old child known as “Abd Al-Karim Khidr” from Palmyra city died in Al-Rukban (forgotten) camp in the Syrian desert, due to the poor health care in the camp, and the absence of baby formula.
According to local sources, the child was fed water and sugar instead of milk, due to the absence of baby formula in Al-Rukban camp, causing severe complications in the baby’s health that led to his death.
