Landmine explo*sion | Three children ki*lled and injured in Deir Ezzor countryside

Deir Ezzor province: SOHR sources have reported that a 13-year-old boy was killed and two others sustained serious injuries in the explosion of an old landmine while they were herding cattle near the outskirts of the desert, near Ayyash warehouses which host a training camp of Iranian-backed militias in western Deir Ezzor

 

Since morning, SOHR activists documented the death of two other children and injury four others in regime-controlled areas in light of inaction by relevant authorities which have exerted no tangible efforts to remove it.

 

Accordingly, SOHR has documented the death of 13 civilians, including a woman and nine children, due to explosions of old landmines, unexploded shells and bombs across Syria since early 2023. In addition, 15 civilians, including eight children and three women, sustained various injuries in the same period.

 

The casualties are distributed regionally as follows:

 

  • Areas controlled by Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham and opposition factions in Idlib: One fatality; a child, and one injured child.

 

  • Regime-controlled areas: 11 fatalities, including seven children and two women, and 12 injured civilians, including six children and two women.

 

  • “Euphrates Shield” area in east Aleppo countryside: One fatality, a child, and six injured people, including five children.

 

  • SDF-held areas: One fatality; a child.
