Landmine expl*osion | Child ki*lled in rural Deir Ezzor

SOHR activists have documented the death of a child in the explosion of an old landmine in Al-Marashidah town in SDF-controlled areas in the south-eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

 

Accordingly, SOHR has documented the death of 17 civilians, including a woman and 12 children, due to explosions of old landmines, unexploded shells and bombs across Syria since early 2023. In addition, 19 civilians, including 11 children and three women, sustained various injuries in the same period.

 

The casualties are distributed regionally as follows:

 

  • Areas controlled by Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham and opposition factions in Idlib: One fatality; a child, and one injured child.

 

  • Regime-controlled areas: 13 fatalities, including eight children and a woman, and 13 injured civilians, including six children and two women.

 

  • “Euphrates Shield” area in east Aleppo countryside: One fatality, a child, and six injured people, including five children.

 

  • SDF-held areas: Two fatalities; two children.
