Old ordnance | Two children injured in landmine explosion in Al-Hasakah

Al-Hasakah province: Two children were injured by shrapnel due to the explosion of a landmine of ISIS’ war remnants, in Al-Shayer town in the countryside of Al-Shadady town in Al-Hasakah countryside.

According to reliable SOHR sources, the children were taken to Al-Shadady hospital to receive proper medication.

Accordingly, SOHR has documented the death of 18 civilians, including a woman and 13 children, due to explosions of old landmines, unexploded shells and bombs across Syria since early 2023. In addition, 25 civilians, including 13 children and three women, sustained various injuries in the same period.
The casualties are distributed regionally as follows:
• Areas controlled by Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham and opposition factions in Idlib: One fatality; a child, and one injured child.
• Regime-controlled areas: 14 fatalities, including nine children and a woman, and 13 injured civilians, including six children and two women.
• “Euphrates Shield” area in east Aleppo countryside: One fatality, a child, and six injured people, including five children.
• SDF-held areas: Two fatalities; two children.
