Calling for armed protests | Head of Deir Ezzor Council pledges to release innocent detainees

Deir Ezzor province: Protestors in Al-Ezba and Al-Maaizaleh towns in Deir Ezzor countryside called for armed protests tomorrow, after the end of the period given to SDF to release the detainees and improve conditions in the region, and they threatened to close all roads and prevent the passage of oil tanks and vehicles of SDF and the International Coalition until their demands are met.

According to reliable SOHR sources, the head of the Deir Ezzor Military Council, after being informed of the armed protests, pledged to release the detainees from Al-Ezba and Al-Maaizaleh towns that were not proved to participate in killing innocents, and asked the families of the detainees to provide the names of their sons and the charges pressed against them for them to undergo reconciliation.

It is worth noting that SDF-controlled areas have experienced a state of public anger and discontent in light of the dire living conditions, poor services and deteriorating security situation which have spurred the residents to stage frequent protests.

Earlier today, dozens of civilians staged angry protests in Ma’izila and Ezbet areas of the northern countryside of Deir Ezzor, demanding the release of detainees arrested by SDF, amid blocking the main road leading to Koniko gas field and a Ma’izila market with burning tyres.
