Third airstrike in less than 24 hours | Weapon-laden tanker explodes in Al-Bokamal east of Deir Ezzor
Deir Ezzor province: An unidentified reconnaissance aircraft carried out a third round of airstrikes in less than 24 hours, targeting an oil tanker loaded with weapons and ammunition of Iranian-backed militias. The tanker exploded in Al-Suwayyah town in Al-Bokamal countryside, east of Deir Ezzor, killing one person in an initial death toll.
Accordingly, the death toll from Iranian-backed militiamen of non-Syrian nationalities rises to 11, including a leader, in three rounds of airstrikes, which began last Sunday night, January 29.
This morning, an Iranian-backed militia leader and two of his non-Syrian escorts were killed in renewed airstrikes by drones. The leader’s four-wheel drive pickup vehicle was targeted while the leader was inspecting the targeting site last night in Al-Ostorah Square in Al-Hari town in Al-Bokamal countryside.
SOHR had reported that seven drivers of chiller lorries and their escorts, of non-Syrian nationalities, were killed in last night’s strikes by unidentified aircraft that targeted a convoy of Iranian-backed militia in Al-Hari area of Al-Bokamal city.
Last night, SOHR sources reported that unidentified drones executed airstrikes on refrigerator trucks in Al-Herri village in Al-Bokamal countryside in eastern Deir Ezzor, destroying the trucks and killing and injuring people inside them.
According to SOHR sources, the attack targeted six trucks which crossed into Syria from Iraq, shortly before the attack. Meanwhile, SOHR activists reported seeing International Coalition drones hovering over the area and ambulances rushing to the targeted site.
On December 27, SOHR activists reported the arrival of vehicles of Hezbollah in Syria through borders between Syria and Iraq near Al-Bo Kamal city in eastern Deir Ezzor countryside.
According to reliable SOHR sources, one of the military dignitaries of Hezbollah was at the lead of the vehicles carrying several of his accompanies and entered Syria.
On the other hand, the refrigerators that are used to transport vegetables from Al-Mayadin city to Iraq returned after unloading at missile bases.
Chiller lorries arrived at the security square in Al-Mayadeen in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor in the western Euphrates area, on January 24. Chiller lorries unloaded their cargo at warehouses of the Afghan Fatimiyoun militia in the area there.
According to SOHR sources, the four trucks entered, amid a significant mobilisation of militias. Trucks unloaded into Afghan warehouses in Al-Mayadeen city.
Syrian Observatory sources suggested advanced systems and weapons to reach Iranian-backed militias.
SOHR sources reported internal differences among Iranian-backed militias, between the Lebanese “Hezbollah,” and the militias of multiple nationalities because of narcotics abuse. Hezbollah opposes widespread drug use among militias.
