Iran’s activity in Syria | Militias backed by Iran and Lebanese “Hezbollah” put on alert on Syria-Lebanon border and Damascus perimeter

Damascus province: SOHR sources have reported that areas controlled by Iranian militias and Lebanese “Hezbollah” on the Syrian-Lebanese border and the vicinity of Damascus sees a major security alert.

The militias prevented anyone from approaching the main military headquarters and evacuated several residential buildings inhabited by militia members and leaders.

According to the sources, security reinforcements were sent to the headquarters of the Iranian-backed militia and the Lebanese “Hezbollah.” The commanders’ vehicles were assembled in specific locations.

Iranian-backed militias and Lebanese Hezbollah are afraid of security breaches and security flaws that could lead to targeting their military positions, headquarters, and weapons depots.

Yesterday, SOHR sources reported a state of alert and confusion among Iranian-backed militias and Lebanese “Hezbollah” in the capital, Damascus, after a major security flaw in its ranks and targeting of weapons-laden tankers after entering Syrian territory from Al-Bokamal crossing in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

The sources added that a senior delegation and investigative members, led by the security official in charge of Iranian-backed militias in Syria, went to Deir Ezzor, amid reports that Iranian militia leaders intended to make changes to officials in charge of the crossing for fear of being agents to Israel or the “International Coalition.”
