Rising tension | “Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyyah” checkpoints block military columns of “Ahrar Al-Sham” in Jarabulus

Aleppo province: SOHR activists have reported growing tension between “Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyyah” and “Ahrar Al-Sham Islamic Movement” and considerable military build-ups in Jarabulus city in the eastern countryside of Aleppo since yesterday evening.

The tension between the two factions, which operate under the banner of the Turkish-backed “National Army,” started after “Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyyah” members stationed at checkpoints had blocked military columns of “Ahrar Al-Sham Movement,” preventing them from crossing into Jarabulus city, where “Ahrar Al-Sham” was attempting to boost its presence at Al-Hamran crossing which links areas controlled by the “National Army” and areas held by SDF-backed military formations in Manbij countryside in eastern Aleppo.

The military convoy had arrived in Azaz city from Idlib city, via a route running through Afrin city, before it was blocked by “Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyyah” checkpoints.

On January 9, SOHR sources reported a state of tension between Sultan Murad Division and Ahrar Al-Sham Islamic Movement in the area of Al-Hamaran crossing in Jarabulus countryside in north-eastern Aleppo. This follows disagreements over the priority of dominating Al-Hamaran crossing which links areas controlled by the “National Army” and areas held by SDF-backed military formations in Manbij countryside in eastern Aleppo.
