“Al-Shahbaa Gathering” | Several Turkish-backed factions announce new military formation in Aleppo

Aleppo province: SOHR sources have reported that several factions operating under the banner of the Turkish-backed “National Army” have announced the formation of a new military gathering dubbed “Al-Shahbaa Gathering.” The new formation comprises “Ahrar Al-Sham Islamic Movement,” “Nour al-Din al-Zenki Movement,” Ahrar Al-Tawheed” and the “50th Division.”

The new gathering has issued a statement explaining that it aims at reuniting the military ranks as a part of preparations for defending the liberated areas from expected attacks by Russian, Iranian and regime forces, as well as supporting security and service institutions and the police in order to confront interior challenges.

This coincides with ongoing factional disputes and various affiliation of factions operating under the banner of the Turkish-backed “National Army,” as well as Turkish government’s marginaliaation of some factions and deduction of support provided to them.

Earlier today, SOHR activists reported growing tension between “Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyyah” and “Ahrar Al-Sham Islamic Movement” and considerable military build-ups in Jarabulus city in the eastern countryside of Aleppo since yesterday evening.
