Turkish-backed factions steal aids | Most of Afrin villages are deprived of rescue materials

Warehouses of Turkish-backed factions such as Ahrar Al-Sharqiyah, Al-Amshat and others are filled with tons of rescue aids that were stolen from those affected from the earthquake.

The Turkish-backed factions provide a list of fake names of people affected by the earthquake in coordination with the local councils in Afrin.

On the same context, Kakhra village western of Maabatly in Afrin countryside is still deprived of the humanitarian aids, despite the village being significantly damaged.

Al-Amshat faction took over the village and stores tons of humanitarian aids in its warehouses, while Syrians are deprived of them.

According to reliable SOHR sources, most of the residents of villages of Afrin have not received rescue aids yet, except for Hamam and Fakira villages, where “Al-Barzani” charitable institution distributed aids on those affected in both villages without discrimination.

On February 16, Tarmisha village in Shaikh Al-Hadid district in Afrin countryside witnessed public discontent among the residents, due to the unfair distribution of humanitarian and rescue aids on those affected by the earthquake, especially after its native residents were deprived of the aids that entered the village.
A lawyer, who is also a human rights activist from the village, informed SOHR that coinciding with the presence of “Al-Barzany” charitable institution of the Kurdistan region and its efforts to distribute food baskets on those affected by the earthquake without discrimination, another unidentified institution distributed nearly 29 tents on the Arabic residents, who are displaced only from Syrian governorates, while these tents were not handed to the native residents affected by the earthquake, sparking a case of discontent among the residents, especially after they were left homeless following the collapse of their houses.
Those people affected by the earthquake demanded the institutions to distribute the aids fairly and to not politicise the humanitarian condition and spark dispersion and discrimination among residents of the village.
It is worth noting that the tents that were distributed in Tarmisha village included the displaced people living in houses that belonged to residents of the village, while “Al-Barzany” institution distributed foodstuff on the residents of the village.
