Having distributed humanitarian assistance | Iranian-backed militias start recruiting young and adult men in Aleppo and Syrian coastline

Iranian-backed militias continue their efforts to entrench their presence in different Syrians areas, like they have done in Deir Ezzor. The Iranians have exploited the catastrophe of the earthquake, which hit Syria on February 6, through sending hundreds of trucks carrying humanitarian assistance and distributing it to affected residents in Aleppo, Syrian coastline and other Syrian areas with the aim of gaining populist support. Recently, Iranian-backed militias have started luring young and adult men in these areas to join their ranks.

According to SOHR sources, Syrian people working for Iranian-backed militias attempted to persuade young and adult men, during distribution of humanitarian assistance in Aleppo, to join those militiamen, claiming that this offer provides stable jobs with fixed salaries, financial incentives and food baskets. Iranian-backed militias followed the same technique in the Syrian coastline and other areas across Syria.

SOHR sources have confirmed that several people accepted the offer, especially since those individuals working for Iranian-backed militias informed them that new headquarters would be opened in those areas and that the role of the new recruits would be away from military affairs.

It is worth noting that the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces brought in over 1,000 trucks carrying humanitarian assistance to disaster-stricken areas in Syria and supervised the process of distributing this assistance.
