IS-IS resurgence | SDF member injured in an attack on military checkpoint in Deir Ezzor

Deir Ezzor province: An SDF member was injured in an armed attack that is likely to be carried out by ISIS members on an SDF military checkpoint near Al-Attal Square in Al-Basira city in eastern Deir Ezzor countryside.

It is worth noting that the injured member hails from Al-Shahil town in Deir Ezzor countryside, where he was taken to the hospital to receive proper medication.

This comes in light of the escalation of ISIS activity, where SDF-held areas witness military operations and sneak attacks by ISIS cells almost daily.

SOHR has documented 30 operations carried out by ISIS, including armed attacks and explosions, in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration since early 2023. According to SOHR statistics, these operations left 24 persons dead: four civilians, 19 members of SDF, the Internal Security Forces (Asayish), and other military formations operating in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration and one unidentified man. These operations are distributed regionally as follows:

• Al-Raqqah: Seven attacks left three combatants dead.

• Deir Ezzor: 19 attacks left four civilians, an unidentified man and nine combatants dead.

• Aleppo: Two attacks left six combatants, including commanders, dead.

• Al-Hasakah: Two attacks left a combatant dead and others injured.
