For “stealing relief materials” | Residents protest against Al-Hamzat faction and throw away aids in Ras Al-Ain

Al-Hasakah province: SOHR activists have obtained a copy of a video tape showing civilians from Ras Al-Ain city in Al-Hasakah countryside throwing away aids, protesting against the officials in the region for “stealing the relief materials and aids.”

According to reliable SOHR sources, the factions and the local council replaced the aids that were sent to the region with charcoal bags.

It is worth noting that the charcoal was previously sent to Ras Al-Ain to be distributed on residents for heating, in light of the lack of diesel and power outage in the city that suffers harsh living conditions. However, the factions stole the charcoal and stored it in their warehouses.

Part of the humanitarian aids that were sent to those affected by the earthquake in Jinderes in Afrin countryside and Idlib countryside, was taken and robbed by factions of the “National Defence” to be sent to Ras Al-Ain city north western of Al-Hasakah within “Peace Spring” area, and was distributed on members of the faction and their families.

According to reliable SOHR sources, Al-Hamzat faction distributed aids, while the latter stored aids in its military warehouses and commanders shared part of the aids and sold the other part without distributing aids on the rest of the members, pushing them to ask for their shares and throwing away the charcoal.

On February 26, a UN delegation including a team from the World Health Organization and UNICEF coming from SDF-held areas entered Ras Al-Ain city in “Peace Spring” area which is controlled by Turkish-backed factions. The delegation provided two trucks loaded with medical materials and detergents to a health center in presence of the Minister of Health of the “Syrian Interim Government.”

SOHR reported that six UN “Jeep” cars and a freight truck accompanied by four Russian military armoured vehicles to secure protection, a vehicle of “SDF” coordination office and two Russian helicopters arrived in Al-Asadiyah village, north of Abu Rasin town which separates SDF-controlled areas from “Peace Spring” area controlled by Turkish-backed factions.

According to SOHR sources, the convoy later crossed into “Peace Spring” area, under Turkish protection, and headed towards Ras Al-Ain city in the northern countryside of Al-Hasakah.
