To sell copper | Thieves steal the internet cable in Al-Joura neighbourhood in Deir Ezzor

Deir Ezzor province: A group of thieves have stolen the optical cable from the post office in Al-Joura neighbourhood in Deir Ezzor city within regime-held areas, causing disruption of the internet for the second time in two months.

According to reliable SOHR sources, the thieves stole the cables to burn them and sell the copper to scrap collection centres, where four centres of the 4th Division are present in Al-Sejn (Prison) road in Al-Joura neighbourhood in Deir Ezzor.

It is worth noting that these centres are under the supervision of officers of the 4th Division, working on shipping the scraps in vehicles to Damascus and Aleppo to be recycled again.

On March 1, owners of vegetables “stalled” in Al-Wadi street in Al-Jourah neighbourhood in Deir Ezzor city, assaulted the municipal police members, due to imposing levies by the municipal.

The municipal police imposed taxes on stalls’ owners, despite the law that prevents them from working in specific places by the municipal, while they allow them to work illegally in these areas after paying sums of money.
