Amid reports of casu*alties | Viol*ent explo*sion hits area near Iranian hospital in Deir Ezzor city
Deir Ezzor province: SOHR activists in Deir Ezzor city have reported hearing a loud explosion of unknown origin, which hit the area of the Iranian hospital in Al-Hemaydiyah neighbourhood, where plumes of smoke were seen in the city which is controlled by regime forces and Iranian-backed militias. Iranian-backed militias have cordoned the site where the explosion took place, while ambulances were seen rushing to the site.
SOHR activists documented the death of 16 Iranian-backed Syrian and non-Syrian militiamen in aerial and ground attacks in Syria in February 2023.
Yesterday, SOHR sources reported that Iranian-backed Afghan “Liwaa Fatemiyoun” deployed four artillery pieces and hided them among palm trees in an orchard in the vicinity of Al-Mayadeen city, “the capital of Iranian-backed militias in Syria,” after rehabilitating them.
According to SOHR sources in the region, Iranian-backed militias, including Afghan “Liwaa Fatemiyoun,” were seen on high alert over concerns of possible attacks on their positions in the countryside of Deir Ezzor.
SOHR activists had reported seeing Iranian-backed militias deploying the artillery pieces among palm trees in the vicinity of Al-Mayadeen and establishing stations of electronic warfare jamming systems in the vicinity of the city.
