New attack | ISIS cells attack SDF fighter on road to Al-Omar oil field

Deir Ezzor province: SOHR activists have reported that an SDF fighter sustained serious injuries, after having been shot by ISIS cells on the road to Al-Omar oil field on the outskirts of Al-Shuhayl town in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

It is worth noting that ISIS cells’ operations escalate in SDF-controlled areas through surprise attacks against civilians, combatants and employees working for the Autonomous Administration.

SOHR has documented 32 operations carried out by ISIS, including armed attacks and explosions, in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration since early 2023. According to SOHR statistics, these operations left 26 persons dead: five civilians, 20 members of SDF, the Internal Security Forces (Asayish), and other military formations operating in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration and one unidentified man. These operations are distributed regionally as follows:

  • Al-Raqqah: Seven attacks left three combatants dead.

  • Deir Ezzor: 20 attacks left five civilians, an unidentified man and ten combatants dead.

  • Aleppo: Two attacks left six combatants, including commanders, dead.
