Security mobilization | High ranking officer of Iranian Revolutionary Guards visits Deir Ezzor

Deir Ezzor province: An unidentified high-ranking commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards arrived at Deir Ezzor city from Damascus, amid major security mobilization in Deir Ezzor city.

The commander was accompanied with a delegation of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and the Lebanese “Hezbollah”, and they were received at the headquarters of Al-Haj Kamil in Deir Ezzor city, with no reports regarding the reasons behind the visit.

Iranian militias deployed in houses and villas within the residential neighbourhoods of Deir Ezzor city, where reconstruction operations of a warehouse of missiles and ammunition of Iranian militias in Al-Hamidiya neighbourhood started a few days ago after a huge explosion took place in the warehouse on March 8, leaving seven people killed including three non-Syrian people, three Syrian people and one unidentified person.

According to reliable SOHR sources, several families started evacuating their nearby houses in fear of the warehouse being targeted again, amid a state of anger and discontent among residents due to the presence of a warehouse of missiles and weapons near houses of civilians.

On March 10, SOHR sources reported that Iranian-backed militias imposed more strict security procedures in their posts in Deir Ezzor city, following the explosion, which took place in a weapons and ammunitions warehouse affiliated to those militias in Al-Hemaydiyah neighbourhood in the city
