Abandoned newborns | Residents find new born baby near the courthouse in Deir Ezzor

Deir Ezzor province: Residents have found a new-born baby in an abandoned building near the courthouse in Deir Ezzor city within regime-held areas.

This comes in light of the growing phenomenon of abandonment of children by their families, for many reasons, especially the deterioration of living conditions, illegal relationships and other reasons.

On March 24, SOHR reported that residents have found the body of a newborn child, who was abandoned for unknown reasons and put inside a bag, in front of Al-Rahman Mosque in Al-Basira town in eastern Deir Ezzor countryside.

According to SOHR statistics, this is the 47th case of abandoned new-born babies since early 2022 with 24 cases documented in regime-controlled areas and 23 documented in SDF-controlled areas.
