Security vacuum | Nearly 15 people killed and injured in ten incidents of security disorder in Daraa in Ramadan

Since the beginning of Ramadan, SOHR has documented ten attacks in Daraa province, as a part of the escalating security chaos in regime-controlled areas. These attacks left four “collaborators” with regime forces and security services dead, as well as the injury of seven civilians and a member of a local group.

March 23: Unidentified gunmen opened fire on a member of a local group in Al-Jiza town, injuring him seriously, and he was taken to the hospital in Bosra Al-Sham city.

 

• March 24: Armed clashes erupted between local groups of the State Security and members of the 8th Brigade of the Military Intelligence Department in Inkhil city in northern Daraa countryside, due to disputes between them.

 

• March 24: Two civilians were injured after being shot by a gunman due to disputes between them in Tafs city in western Daraa countryside, where they were taken to the hospital to receive proper medication.

 

• March 24: A civilian was severely injured after being shot by unidentified gunmen in Nawa city in western Daraa countryside, where he was taken to the hospital to receive proper medication.

 

• March 25: Unidentified gunmen shot a member working for local groups of the military intelligence branch dead, near the national hospital of Daraa in Daraa Al-Mahattah.

 

• March 26: SOHR sources reported hearing an explosion, which was caused by detonating an IED planted earlier in a car of a “collaborator” with the 4th Division in Gabageb town in the northern countryside of Daraa. The man, who had worked for local faction before he struck a reconciliation deal and joined the 4th Division, was injured and taken to the hospital.

 

• March 26: Two people were killed, where one of them belonged to a local group of the Intelligence Service of the State Security, and two other people were injured severely by stray bullets, following the eruption of armed clashes between a local group of the 8th Brigade on one hand and an armed group of the Intelligence Service of the State Security on the other hand, in Inkhil city in northern Daraa countryside, amid appeals by residents for both groups to exit the city.

 

• March 27: Masked gunmen intercepted a young man in Al-Yadoda town in western Daraa countryside and opened fire directly on him, injuring him and he was taken to the hospital to receive proper medication, where the masked gunmen fled to an unknown destination.

 

• March 28: A colonel in the political security branch in Daraa survived an assassination attempt by unknown gunmen near Al-Harah city in the northern countryside of Daraa, while a young man accused of “working for the political security branch and involving in drug business” was killed in the attack. Clashes erupted between members of the political security branch and the attackers, before they escaped.

 

• March 28: Unidentified gunmen targeted a merchant accused of “dealing with the Military Security Department in Daraa” by directly shooting him in Jassim city in northern Daraa countryside. However, it was not identified whether he was injured or not.
