Old ordnance | Landmine explosion kills young man and injures his brother in eastern countryside of Salamiyah

Hama province: A young man was killed, and his brother was severely injured due to the explosion of an old landmine, near Duwaizin area in the eastern countryside of Hama, where the injured man was taken to the hospital for treatment.
This comes in light of the failure of organisations and local authorities to remove remnants which continue to claim civilian lives throughout Syria.
Accordingly, SOHR has documented the death of 152 civilians, including nine women and 33 children, due to explosions of old landmines, unexploded shells and bombs across Syria since early 2023. In addition, over 186 civilians, including 49 children and four women, sustained various injuries.
The casualties are distributed regionally as follows:
• Areas controlled by Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham and opposition factions in Idlib: Three fatalities; including a child, and five injured civilians, including three children.
• Regime-controlled areas: 75 fatalities, including 24 children and nine women, and 158 injured civilians, including 29 children and three women. There are 80 truffle pickers died, including two children and six women, and 104 others injured.
• “Euphrates Shield” area in east Aleppo countryside: Three fatalities, three children, and ten injured people: a woman and nine children.
• SDF-held areas: Six fatalities, including four children, and 12 injured civilians, including seven children. There is a little truffle picker among the injured people.
• “Peace Spring” area in north Al-Raqqah countryside: A child was killed and another was injured.
