SOHR: US-led Coalition Convoy Enters Hasakah from Kurdistan Region

A military convoy consisting of approximately 20 trucks carrying logistics materials, weapons, fuel tanks, and closed boxes was brought through the al-Walid border crossing between the Kurdistan Region and the Autonomous Administration areas in northern and eastern Syria.

The convoy’s destination is the US-led Coalition forces’ bases located in the Hasakah countryside in northeast Syria, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on Saturday.

This comes as both the al-Walid and Fishkhabor (Simalka) border crossings between Iraq, the Kurdistan Region and northeast Syria had been closed until further notice, coinciding with the suspension of commercial movement between the areas.

However, the International Coalition forces have intervened to mediate and reopen the Simalka crossing, the London-based Observatory added.

The reopening of the Simalka crossing, facilitated by the Coalition forces, aims to restore the flow of people and goods between the Autonomous Administration areas in Syria and the Region.

The US-led Coalition continues to support local forces in the region in their efforts to combat terrorism and maintain stability. The presence of Coalition forces remains crucial in providing logistical support, training, and assistance to local partners in their fight against extremist groups.
