“De-escalation zone” | Commander-in-chief of Russian Special Tasks Forces killed in HTS attack in rural Latakia

SOHR sources have reported that a colonel, who was the Commander-in-chief of Russian Special Tasks Forces, was killed on May 26, where Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham fired several shells on the headquarters of the regime forces command on Al-Jeb Al-Ahmar frontline in the northern countryside of Latakia.

 

On May 26, SOHR sources reported that a regime soldier was killed and another was injured when factions of Al-Fath Al-Mubin operation room targeted positions of the regime forces in Tel Al-Hadada and frontline of Kabana in northern Lattakia countryside within “Putin-Erdogan” area. It is worth noting that the killed soldier is from Dariya city in Rif Dimashq.

 

Since early 2023, SOHR has documented 129 operations in the “de-escalation zone,” including attacks, gunfire by snipers and bombardment, which left 215 combatants and civilians dead. In addition, these operations left over 116 combatants and 34 civilians, including three women and other children, injured.

 

The fatalities can be distributed as follows:

 

  • Nine civilians were killed by regime forces, including a woman and a child.

 

  • 157 members of regime forces, including nine officers.

 

  • An Afghan militiaman of “Liwaa Fatemiyoun.”

 

  • A member of the Syrian Hezbollah.

 

  • 41 members of Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham, including a French jihadist.

 

  • Two members of the jihadist faction of “Ansar Al-Tawheed.

 

  • One member of “Ahrar Al-Sham” movement.

 

  • One member of “Al-Sham Corps.”

 

  • One member of “Hurras Al-Din” organisation.

 

  • The Commander-in-chief of Russian Special Tasks Forces.
