Having criticised political and social situations | Unidentified gunmen throw two grenades near artist’s house in northern Al-Suwaidaa

Al-Suwaidaa province: SOHR sources have reported hearing two explosions in Ateel town in northern Al-Suwaidaa countryside due to explosion of two grenades near a house in the town, but no casualties have been reported.

According to SOHR sources, the explosion occurred near the house of an artist, where the two grenades were thrown by unidentified gunmen

as a threat to the artist, because of his drawings which criticise political, social and economic conditions.

On the other hand, unidentified gunmen attacked four houses in Al-Mazraa town in Al-Suwaidaa countryside, before they escaped.

This comes in light of ongoing security chaos in regime-held areas.

On May 13, SOHR sources reported that Al-Saikh Laith Al-Balaoth was subjected to an assassination attempt with gunshots in Al-Suwaydaa.

According to reliable SOHR sources, unidentified gunmen opened fire directly on a car carrying Al-Shaikh Laith Al-Balaoth and other people, where he was injured and taken to the hospital.

It is worth noting that “Laith Al-Balaoth” is the son of founder of Rejal Al-Karama movement in Al-Suwaydaa, and a prominent figure who opposed the regime in his farm in Al-Suwaydaa.

Laith completed what his father started, and had a role in combatting the spread of Iranian militias in Al-Suwaydaa province.
