Following ISIS bloody attack | Iranian-backed militias and regime military services and formations put on high alert in Deir Ezzor desert

Deir Ezzor province: SOHR activists have reported seeing security and military forces being put on high alert in the east Deir Ezzor desert since early morning, amid heavy deployment of armed members of Iranian-backed militias, military intelligence branch, 17th Division and military police, backed by armoured vehicles and heavy weapons.

This coincided with the arrival of ambulances in the site of ISIS attack which was carried out in the early hours of Friday morning on a regime military bus in Al-Mayadeen desert.

It is worth noting that areas controlled by regime forces in the Syrian desert experienced noticeable escalation of ISIS attacks in the past few days, where ISIS members carried out surprise attacks on regime positions and gatherings, before withdrawing into the desert.

It is worth noting that today’s attack, which targeted a military bus on the road to T2 in Al-Mayadeen desert in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, left 23 regime soldiers dead and ten others injured, while the fate of tens others remains unknown. The number of fatalities is expected to rise further, as some of the soldiers sustained serious injuries.
