Having been handed over by border guards to military police | Displaced young man dies under torture in Afrin city

Aleppo province: SOHR activists have reported that a young man in his thirties died under torture in a prison of the military police in Afrin city in the north-western countryside of Aleppo in “Olive Branch” area.

According to SOHR sources, border guards had handed the young man in to the military police, after having been arrested while he was attempting to sneak into Turkey, but he died under brutal torture by members of the military police in the prison.

It is worth noting that many Syrians are held in notorious prisons of Turkish-backed factions, after having been arrested while attempting to sneak into Turkey. Most of those civilians are released only after paying large ransoms.

Yesterday, SOHR sources reported that members of a checkpoint of the Turkish-backed Military Police beat and insulted a person displaced from Hayan City in Aleppo countryside, while he was with his wife at a checkpoint in Qatma Village in Shiran district in Afrin countryside north western of Aleppo, where members of the checkpoint accused him of “accompanying a woman that is not his wife” despite him showing them the family card that proves that the woman is his wife, where quarrels took place between them and the members assaulted him.
