Taking back heavy vehicles they lost during bloody clashes | SDF enter three towns in eastern Deir Ezzor without resistance and start combing operations

Deir Ezzor province: SOHR sources have reported that Syrian Democratic Forces entered the villages of Abu Hamam, Al-Kishkiyah and Gharanij in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, without resistance by local gunmen and tribesmen, where SDF started combing operations in the three villages.

According to SOHR sources, SDF took back their vehicles which had been seized by the tribal forces during the bloody clashes between the two sides during the past few days.

Meanwhile, tense calm has been prevailing in areas controlled by the Autonomous Administration in Deir Ezzor, along with ongoing combing operations by SDF in the eastern countryside.

Earlier today, SOHR sources reported that Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have accomplished combing operations in the towns of Al-Jerthi, Al-Jerthi Sharqi, Shenan and Suwaydan in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, amid searching for weapons.

Accordingly, SDF have combed an 15-kilometre-long area since yesterday stretching from Al-Tayyanah town to Al-Jerthi town on Euphrates river’s bank, opposite areas dominated by Iranian-backed militias on the river’s western bank in Deir Ezzor countryside.

Yesterday, SOHR sources reported ongoing combing operations and searching for fighters who had left Theban town, which was the last stronghold of local gunmen, before Syrian Democratic Forces took control of the town.

At a time when complete calm was prevailing in Theban town, several media outlets circulated untrue reports on a new attack by local gunmen on the town, which enabled them to regain control on Theban town.

SOHR sources reported earlier that security units and SDF-backed formations continue combing operations on the vicinity of Theban town, the last stronghold of local gunmen in eastern Deir Ezzor countryside.

The security units and SDF lunched a combing operation this dawn in Al-Tayanah and areas on Euphrates river bank opposite areas which are controlled by Iranian-backed militias, searching for fleeing local gunmen. However, no information have been reported about arresting any local gunmen.

It is worth noting that the number of the local gunmen is estimated to be nearly 70 and they are led by Al-Sheikh “Al-Hafal.”

According to SOHR statistics, the number of people who have been killed since the clashes erupted on August 27 has reached 90; they are as follows:

  • Nine civilians, including five children and two women.

  • 57 local gunmen.

  • 24 SDF fighter, including 12 Arab fighters from Idlib, Al-Hasakah and Deir Ezzor.

In addition, the clashes left at least 104 persons injured:

  • 58 local gunmen.

  • 33 SDF fighters.

  • 13 civilians.
