Second attack in hours | Israeli strikes target military positions in Hama countryside

SOHR sources have reported that Israel renewed their strikes in Syrian territory, a few hours after a round of airstrikes in Tartus countryside.

SOHR activists have reported hearing explosions in Hama countryside, as Israeli strikes hit the scientific research centre in Taqsis village, but no casualties have been reported.

SOHR sources have just reported that trucks of the Lebanese Hezbollah arrived in Syria yesterday evening from Lebanon, via unofficial crossings. The trucks arrived in warehouses in a base of the air-defence forces near Al-Jamasah and Deir Hajar villages in Tartus countryside, where the Lebanese Hezbollah use those warehouses for storing weapons until transporting them to Lebanon. It is worth noting that today’s airstrikes by Israeli fighter jets in Tartus countryside targeted those warehouses.

Earlier today, SOHR activists documented the death of three combatants: two regime soldiers and the identity of the third remains unknown, due to Israeli airstrikes on two military positions in Tartus countryside.

Meanwhile, eight other combatants, including five officers of the air-defence forces, were injured, as the airstrikes targeted two weapons warehouses of the Lebanese Hezbollah near Al-Jamasah and Deir Hajar villages and a base of the regime’s air-defence forces in Kartu village, which is located nearly ten kilometres away from the targeted first site.

It is worth noting that this is the 27th attack by Israeli forces in Syrian territory since early 2023.

SOHR documented 28 attacks in 2023: 21 airstrikes and seven rocket attacks by ground forces, during which Israel targeted several positions in Syria, destroying nearly 65 targets, including buildings, weapons and ammunitions warehouses, headquarters, centres and vehicles. These strikes killed 64 combatants and injured 77 others. The fatalities are distributed as follows:

  • One unidentified person.

  • 26 members of regime forces, including two officers.

  • 24 Iranian-backed non-Syrian militiamen.

  • Six members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

  • Four Iranian-backed Syrian militiamen.

  • Three members of the Lebanese Hezbollah.

In addition, those attacks left a man and a woman dead and other civilians injured.

The attacks are distributed regionally as follows:

  • Damascus and Rif Dimashq: 12 attacks.

  • Al-Quneitera: six attack.

  • Hama: one attack.

  • Tartus: three attack.

  • Aleppo: four attacks.

  • Al-Suwaidaa: three attacks.

  • Daraa: two attacks.

  • Homs: three attack.

SOHR would like to point out that Israel sometimes targeted more than one province in a single attack.
