Covered by gunshots | Regime-backed locals sneak towards SDF checkpoints in Deir Ezzor countryside

Deir Ezzor province: Local gunmen and regime-backed combatants targeted several military checkpoints of SDF with light weapons in Al-Mawh area in Abo Hamam Town. Checkpoints in Al-Hawasha and Al-Masfaya in eastern Deir Ezzor countryside were also attacked, amid violent clashes between members of the checkpoints and the attackers with several explosions in the area and fire caused by random bombardment, while civilians’ properties were damaged.

According to reliable SOHR sources, groups of local gunmen tried sneaking into positions of SDF through Euphrates River under coverage by local gunmen of the regime forces stationed at the sides of the river. However, no casualties were reported.

Yesterday, a civilian died affected by the wounds he sustained during the clashes in eastern Deir Ezzor countryside between SDF and local gunmen, where he was hit by shrapnel of a mortar shell while he was near the frontlines on the outskirts of Zaiban Town, and the victim hails from Al-Qoriya Town in Deir Ezzor countryside in regime-held areas.
