Delayed salaries for months | Members of National Defence work in drug dealing and steal civilians under name of Military Intelligence

Deir Ezzor province: SOHR activists have reported that members of the “National Defence” militia in Deir Ezzor are robbing civilians while wearing uniforms of the Military Intelligence in Deir Ezzor City, where they imposed royalties on civilians at several military checkpoints and imposed royalties on stores in the city under the name of the Military Intelligence.

According to reliable SOHR sources, members of the “National Defence” militia have not received their monthly salaries from their leader “Feras Al-Iraqiya” in several months, therefore several of them started dealing drugs and robbing civilians.

On October 27, two members of the National Defence were injured in armed clashes between a patrol of the National Defence and members of the Criminal Security in Al-Muwazafin Neighbourhood within areas of regime forces and Iranian militias.

The clash occurred after the Criminal Security forces found a bag containing narcotic pills in the possession of a member of the National Defense Forces and attempted to arrest him. The clashes ended with the deployment of military reinforcements to the criminal security forces and the closure of some roads in the neighborhood.
