Security vacuum | Unidentified gunmen shoot young man dead in Daraa countryside

Daraa province: SOHR sources have reported that a young man from Ma’raba town in Daraa countryside was killed by unknown gunmen who blocked his way, while he was traveling in his car on the road between Al-Ghariyah Al-Gharbiyah and Sayda in Daraa countryside, shot him and escaped.

 

The young man had been a member of an opposition faction, before he struck a reconciliation deal with the Syrian regime in 2018. After the reconciliation, he joined the 8th Brigade, but he later was discharged.

 

Since early 2023, SOHR activists have documented 441 incidents of security disorder in Daraa province, which left 349 people dead; and they are as follows:

 

  • 127 civilians, including seven children and seven women.

 

  • 26 men accused of “involving in drug business.”

 

  • 146 regime soldiers, members and collaborators with regime security services, including a woman.

 

  • 24 former fighters who did not join any military formation, after striking reconciliation deals with the Syrian regime.

 

  • Ten ISIS members.

 

  • 12 ex-fighters with settled-status working for regime services and backed militias.

 

  • Two people working for the Lebanese Hezbollah, including a commander.

 

  • One “collaborator” with Iranian-backed militias.

 

  • An ex-fighter in the former “Jabhat Al-Nusra.”
