25th case regime-held areas | Newborn child found abandoned by his parents in Deir Ezzor city
Deir Ezzor province: Residents found a newborn baby, abandoned by his parents for unknown reasons, dumped near a mosque in Al-Muzafeen neighbourhood in Deir Ezzor city, within areas controlled by the regime forces and the militias loyal to them.
Accordingly, the number of abandoned new-born babies documented in 2023 across Syria has increased to 61, where they were left in dumpsters and plastic bags in front of mosques and on the roadside; they are distributed as follows:
• Regime-controlled areas: 25
• SDF-held areas: 28
• Areas controlled by Turkish-backed factions: 4
• HTS-controlled areas: 4
