Deteriorating security situation | Civilian shot dead in eastern Deir Ezzor

Deir Ezzor province: SOHR sources have reported that a civilian was shot dead by another civilian in Shenan village in east Deir Ezzor countryside following disagreement which evolved to armed clashes.

 

This coincides with the escalating security chaos in SDF-controlled areas.

 

The Syrian Observatory has documented 77 murder crimes in SDF-controlled areas since early 2023, where domestic violence and armed robbery were behind some of these murders, while motivations behind the others remained unknown. These murders left 87 civilian fatalities, including 14 women and a ten children; they are distributed regionally as follows:

 

  • Al-Hasakah: 22 civilians, including six women and four children

 

  • Deir Ezzor: 31 civilians, including three women and two children.

 

  • Al-Raqqah: 18 civilians, including three women and three children.

 

  • Manbij: 12 civilians, including two women.

 

  • Ain Al-Arab (Kobani): Four civilians, including a little boy.
