Death of two non-Syrian militiamen confirmed | Number of deaths in Israeli airstrikes on Hezbollah positions in Rif Dimashq jumps to four

Two members of Iranian-backed militias of non-Syrian nationalities, were killed in Israeli airstrikes in the early hours of Saturday morning, on positions of Hezbollah in Sayyida Zainab area and Hujaira in Rif Dimashq, bringing the number of deaths in Israeli airstrikes to four: two Syrian members and two non-Syrian others.

 

In addition, five others sustained various injuries.

 

SOHR documented 56 attacks in 2023: 41 airstrikes and 15 rocket attacks by ground forces, during which Israel targeted several positions in Syria, destroying nearly 116 targets, including buildings, weapons and ammunitions warehouses, headquarters, centres and vehicles. These strikes killed 106 combatants and injured 125 others. The fatalities are distributed as follows:

 

  • 40 members of regime forces, including officers.

 

  • 35 Iranian-backed non-Syrian militiamen.

 

  • Six members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

 

  • Four Iranian-backed Syrian militiamen.

 

  • 19 members of the Lebanese Hezbollah.

 

  • Two members of “Al-Jihad Al-Islami” organisation.

 

In addition, those attacks left three men and a woman dead and other civilians injured.

 

The attacks are distributed regionally as follows:

 

  • Damascus and Rif Dimashq: 21 attacks.

 

  • Al-Quneitera: eight attacks.

 

  • Hama: two attacks.

 

  • Tartus: three attacks.

 

  • Aleppo: eight attacks.

 

  • Al-Suwaidaa: four attacks.

 

  • Daraa: 11 attacks.

 

  • Homs: four attacks.

 

  • Deir Ezzor: two attacks.
