Al-Qunaitrah | Four Israeli drones fly over Al-Qunaitrah countryside and regime’s anti-aircraft systems attempt to shoot them down

Al-Qunaitrah province: SOHR sources have reported hearing several explosions due to an attempt by regime’s air-defences to shoot down four drones of Israel forces which were flying over Al-Ba’ath city in Al-Qunaitrah countryside.

Yesterday, SOHR sources reported that Israel forces attacked positions of Lebanese Hezbollah near Al-Jarajer village in Al-Qalamoun countryside in western Rif Dimashq near Syria-Lebanon border, amid reports about casualties.

This coincided with the flight of drones over the region, but it is not known whether the attack was carried out with surface-to-surface missiles or airstrikes.

Israel has escalated their attacks in Syrian territory to unprecedented level since the beginning of the brutal offensive on Gaza in October, where SOHR has documented 26 attacks: 17 airstrikes, eight rocket attacks by ground forces and one attack that is not known whether it was carried out with surface-to-surface missiles or airstrikes. Those attacks left 30 fatalities; they are as follows:

  • Two civilians.

  • 14 members of regime force and their proxy militias.

  • Ten members of the Lebanese Hezbollah.

  • Two Iranian-backed Syrian militiamen.

  • Two members of the Iranian Revolutionary Corps.

The Israeli attacks in Syria since October 10 also destroyed 34 targets, including weapons warehouses, centres and vehicles. It is worth noting that four airstrikes hit Aleppo international airport, which led to putting it out of service on the four occasions, while two other airstrikes hit Damascus international airport, which led to putting it out of service on the two occasions.

SOHR documented 59 attacks in 2023: 42 airstrikes and 17 rocket attacks by ground forces, during which Israel targeted several positions in Syria, destroying nearly 120 targets, including buildings, weapons and ammunitions warehouses, headquarters, centres and vehicles. These strikes killed 106 combatants and injured 125 others. The fatalities are distributed as follows:

  • 40 members of regime forces, including officers.

  • 35 Iranian-backed non-Syrian militiamen.

  • Six members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

  • Six Iranian-backed Syrian militiamen.

  • 17 members of the Lebanese Hezbollah.

  • Two members of “Al-Jihad Al-Islami” organisation.

In addition, those attacks left three men and a woman dead and other civilians injured.

The attacks are distributed regionally as follows:

  • Damascus and Rif Dimashq: 23 attacks.

  • Al-Quneitera: nine attacks.

  • Hama: two attacks.

  • Tartus: three attacks.

  • Aleppo: eight attacks.

  • Al-Suwaidaa: four attacks.

  • Daraa: 11 attacks.

  • Homs: four attacks.

  • Deir Ezzor: two attacks.

SOHR would like to point out that Israel sometimes targeted more than one province in a single attack.
